If you happen to live in one of those countries which are receiving both mango flavors from Nokia and wish to grab one of them, chances are that you might be confused as to whether to wait for the Lumia 900 or go for the already available Lumia 800. A quick comparison at the spec sheet of the two phones is given below.

While the US version of the 900 supports LTE connectivity, Nokia has decided to offer HSDPA 21mbps, HSUPA 5.76 mbps version elsewhere. Also Lumia 900 sports a 1 MP front facing camera, something that is absent on the 800. Though the screen resolutions are identical on paper, Lumia 800 has a Pentile matrix screen that isn’t known for its quality of image at low resolutions.

The battery on the 900 is again bigger than the the one found in 800, but then again due to a larger screen( 4.3” vs 3.7”) on the former, don’t expect much difference in the battery life of the two phones.

Another thing worth mentioning is the curved glass on the Lumia 800 against the straight glass on the Lumia 900. Though this does not have any effect on performance, it certainly does improve the aesthetics.

Other than that the two phones are identical, housing same amount of RAM, storage, processing power (due to the strict restriction set by Microsoft). So the deal breaker for me would be the price. Though the price in US for the carrier unsubsidized version is $450, I suspect that isn’t gonna be the case elsewhere and expect the phone to be priced above the $500 tag. If you can find it for a lower price, close to that of Lumia 800 I’d highly recommend to go for this over the 800. But then in the end it is solely your decision to make. And don’t worry you wont be judged.
