Micromax has a way to surprise us all most of the times. We knew already that the company was working on a phone with 3D display, but we were expecting it to be priced at around Rs 15,000. That won’t be the case though, as Micromax has launched A115 Canvas 3D in India for a price tag of just Rs 9,999.
Micromax Canvas 3D is the first 3D phone from the company’s (or any other Indian manufacturer for that matter) stables and will be made available to the general public in the first week of May as predicted earlier. It features a 5-inch stereoscopic 3D display. The technology allows users to view 3D content on their phones without the having the need to wear 3D glasses (similar to Nintendo 3DS). The phone is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor (the same unit as the one in Canvas A110 from what we’ve heard) and packs along a 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front camera, expandable memory and a 2,000mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.1.2 and will use some software tricks to convert the photos captured from its 5MP unit to 3D. The phone also comes along with Micromax 3D space app, which gives access to 3D videos. The company has also bundled a few 3D games along with the package.
The dual SIM phone is the fifth phone in the Canvas series, which has already sold a million units. Expect one in retail stores near you soon. In the meanwhile, we’ll be sure to add the phone in our next month’s list of best phones under Rs 10,000.
