With so much of Qualcomm and its Snapdragon around, NVIDIA might have a tough time trying to convince manufacturers into using its Tegra 4 chipset. As such the company is reportedly said to be working on its own tablet powered by a Tegra 4 processor, obviously to show the prowess of the chipset.
Christened as NVIDIA Tegra Tab the device would be manufactured by Shenzhen Homecare Technology in China. There’s no word on the display size, but it is likely to be around 7 inches. The tablet is reportedly said to feature a 5 megapixel camera on the back along with a USB port, 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI port and stylus support. The processor would be beating four 1.8GHz cores. Also, from the images it seems like the Tegra Tab will come with a rubberized back.
The tablet is said to feature either a 720p or a 1080p display, though if Nexus 7 is anything to go by, 1080p should be the norm now.
While we’ve seen Microsoft jumping on the tablet bandwagon with Surface tablets, Tegra Tab would be something completely new (the idea o chipset manufacturer building a tablet, we mean). Although having seen NVIDIA Shield, it doesn’t particularly surprise us that much.
