The Xperia Z tablet which was announced at CES in January is now being released worldwide. The tablet which is only 6.9mm thick and weighs just over 495 grams is undoubtedly the most sleek tablet to date. Sony has tried hard to show that the company means serious business this time by packing the tablet with some class leading specs.
The Xperia Tablet Z sports a 10.1-inch full HD (1920×1200 pixels) screen and is powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. Along with that it features 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera and a 6000 mAh battery. Additionally it will come with 16/32GB internal storage, support for microSD cards up to 64GB, four speakers and NFC. An IR port doubles it as TV remote. Sony also claims that the tablet is dustproof and waterproof in up to three feet of water for 30 minutes.
The tablet runs Android 4.1 and will be soon updated to Android 4.2. The tablet will see the light of the day this May and will cost $499 for the 16GB version and $599 for the 32GB version.
