If you thought tonight’s Apple event was gonna be only about the iPad Mini, the guys at Cupertino just proved you wrong. Apple decided to break its yearly upgrade cycle and announced the all new 4th generation iPad today. There’s nothing extraordinary here though. The chipset has been upgraded from the A5X to the new A6X. Apple claims double the GPU performance than the previous gen chipset, though that remains to be seen. There’s also the new Lightning port instead of the old one. Other than that, the device is identical to the 3rd Gen iPad. It will be available in stores starting January 2nd starting at $499 for 16 GB WiFi version.
