Amidst all the fanfare surrounding the release of Microsoft Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 last week, fans back in India weren’t completely forgotten. In fact, the two new WP8 phones from HTC, the 8X and the 8S are coming to India the next week.
HTC India’s page on Facebook posts “Next week we will be releasing the HTC Fall/Winter 2012 Collection devices. Any guesses what they might be?”, with an image of HTC 8X below. This only leaves us to conclude that whatever event HTC has in mind, is definitely for the WP devices. While Nokia on the other hand, which is considered as the premier manufacturer for Windows Phone devices, is yet to announce the pricing and availability of its WP8 devices, namely Lumia 820 and Lumia 920.
No word on the pricing yet, but things should be clear once the phones are officially announced. HTC 8X is the flagship phone for the company. It boasts a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 4.3 inch 720p display, 16 GB onboard memory, unibody design, 8MP camera on the rear side, NFC and much more. This phone will go head to head against the Lumia 920 from Nokia.
HTC 8S on the other hand sits below 8X and features a 1 GHz dual core processor, 4 inch screen, 4GB onboard memory with micro SD slot and a 5 MP snapper. This phone is set to compete with the Lumia 820 and other Androids priced at around the same price range. Check the manufacturer’s official site to know more.
Update: According to wmpoweruser the HTC 8X will cost Rs 35,023 while the HTC 8S will cost Rs 19,260. Those are very competitive prices. There aren’t many dual core Android phones around Rs 20,000 and 8S should fill this gap well. It’ll be interesting to see how consumers respond to these phones.
