Apple hasn’t given much of an opportunity to the Indian fans to cheer about with their rather heavy pricing of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in the country. However, those of us not interested in the latest handset from the company would be happy to know that they can now get their hands on the older iPhone 5s for as low as Rs 22,499 on major e-commerce websites such as Flipkart and Amazon (check the links below).
Released in 2013, the iPhone 5s was retailing for as much as Rs 32,000 until a few days back. Given the stiff competition from Android manufacturers, a 10,000 rupees cut makes it a much more attractive deal to the buyers and accessible to a larger customer base. Apple iPhone 5s comes with features such as a 4 inch display, dual core A7 processor, 8 megapixels rear camera and 16GB onboard storage. Granted, it’s far from what the Android juggernauts offer even in the sub-25,000 range, it will likely appeal to Apple purists and fans alike.
The price cut on the iPhone 5s comes after reports of tepid sales of the newer models released this year, in part due to their high asking price in India. We’ve seen Apple offer buyback schemes on both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus and this latest move could be another step by Apple to bring more people to the Apple ecosystem in the country. With a track record of releasing software updates even for its older models, iPhone 5s looks like a good deal. Interestingly, no such discounting has been observed on the other models including iPhone 6/6s and 6 Plus/6s Plus.
