With rival Samsung producing fine processors, how could LG just sit behind and watch. As such, the company has been working on an in-house processor codenamed ‘Odin’ for quite some time now. News is coming out of Korea now that the processor would soon be going into mass production. The octa-core processor will be setup in big.LITTLE architecture and will have four 2.2GHz Cortex A15 cores paired with four Cortex A7 cores at 1.7GHz. The processor has been fabricated on a 28nm process.
However, the report claims that LG will be playing safe and wouldn’t be using the chip in the upcoming LG G3 (After all, consumers have only begun to like the LG flagships). Instead, the company could use it in mid range models like the L and the F series. With the growing competition, we doubt if Moore’s law will be able to hold for long in this area.
