Microsoft has never given the Indian market the same priority as some other markets such as North America or Europe, but we might see that changing soon. The company’s already confirmed New Delhi to be one the cities for Windows 10’s global launch and now reports are pouring in that the company might soon launch the Surface tablet in India. Here’s what Vineet Durani, Director – Windows Business Group at Microsoft (India) had to say:
“We feel there’s a market in India for all devices including high-end convertibles and the Surface is the perfect device to showcase Windows 10, which adapts to 2-in-1s easily with seamless switching between PC and tablet UIs.”
While the Indian market does offer Windows tablets, most of them are low end ones, meaning there’s nothing really for the pro users. Given the critical acclaim Surface has won world over and its huge appeal among the business crowd, we don’t see why it shouldn’t be a hit in the country. Also, if Microsoft could release both Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3, it should cover a large range of prices and should give the Macbook a stiff competition.
Unfortunately, there’s no release date set in stone for now. We might not even see this generation of Surface devices coming to India and could have the Surface Pro 4 released directly instead.
