After a long wait, Moto Turbo (XT1225) in India users are getting updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The update is the first major update to the phone since its release in India. The 2014 flagship from Motorola is getting the update after Motorola updated other popular phones in the country such as the Moto G and the Moto G Turbo earlier. Moto Turbo is the Indian version of the Moto Maxx that was released in the U.S. We’re not sure if the update has hit the US version of the phone.
The update brings Android 6.0.1 to the phone along with updated security patches. Users can expect features like the doze mode, granular permissions, and Google Now on Tap.. It’ll be interesting to see how doze mode alters the standby time on the phone, which is already stellar thanks to the 3,900mAh battery.
According to the reports, the update weighs in at 965MB and we recommend downloading it over WiFi. If it hasn’t hit your device already, you can expect it to arrive pretty soon. We’re expecting things to remain pretty much close to stock Android even after the update. Although we can expect a few Motorola tweaks that we’ve seen on other phones as well. Given that the phone is already two years old and showing its age, we’re not sure if this would be the end of the road for the Moto Turbo as far as updates are concerned. While Android Nougat is already out, don’t expect it to hit the device anytime soon, if it is released at all. Let us know in the comments if you notice any other new features.
