sony flash drive

The limited storage on your smartphone can be really frustrating, especially on long trips when you need to load up tons of content on your device beforehand. Matters get worse when the phone does not even have an expandable storage option. Turns out Sony, which has made a couple of creative solutions for smartphones in the past, has come out with a simple yet elegant answer.

The newly announced Sony flash drive is a “2-in-1”. Not only does it plug into your PC or laptop like a flash drive should, but it can also be hooked up to your smartphone or tablet (Android only) via its microUSB port. The only catch being that your Android device needs to support OTG (on the go) functionality for the flash drive to work as a storage unit on the device. The flash drive can work with Android devices running Android 4.0.3 and above and is available in storage options of 8, 16 and 32GB. It doesn’t burn a hole in the pocket either, with the prices of the three variants being $19.99, $29.99, and $62.99 respectively.

The flash drive will be available starting next month in three different cap colors. The drive can be used with the File Manager app, which will be available in the Google Play Store. Here’s a case of MPD that can really turn out to be useful.
