Sony has announced a new model for NTT DoCoMo in Japan dubbed as Xperia A2 SO-04F. From what it appears, it seems like the phone is the Japanese variant of the yet to be announced Xperia Z2 Compact.
Xperia A2 SO-04F resembles the Xperia Z1 Compact in shape and design. It comes sporting a 4.3 inch 720p display similar to the Xperia Z1 and features a Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.2GHz (instead of a Snapdragon 801 like the Xperia Z2). Other internals of the phone include 2GB RAM, 16GB RAM internal memory that is expandable via microSD and a 2,300mAh battery. On the back the phone packs a 20.7 megapixel camera, while on the front, there’s a 2.2MP snapper. Surprisingly, it doesn’t shoot 4K videos. The phone IP55 / IP58 certified for dust and water resistance and at 9.7mm is .2 mm thinner than the Z1 Compact. It runs on Android 4.4.2 out of the box.
In terms of looks, the back of the phone is all matte, while the edges have been refined over Z1 Compact.
