Sony has revealed its update schedule for Xperia phones via its blog. The good news first: Xperia T, Xperia TX, Xperia V, Xperia P, Xperia J, Xperia Go, Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion and Xperia Acro S would all be getting to taste the goodness of Jelly Bean. Unfortunately for Xperia U, Xperia Tipo, Xperia Sola and Xperia Miro users there is no plan on upgrading these phones to Android 4.1.
This comes as a surprise as Xperia U and Sola particularly are decently spec’d and seem to meet the requirements for Jelly Bean. This has created quite an uproar back in the comments section of the original post, with users of Xperia Sola left feeling cheated.
While Samsung and HTC have already started rolling out updates for their phones Sony seems to be lagging way behind with the first wave of updates for Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V hitting only sometime in February or early March. The second wave should see Xperia P, Xperia J and Xperia go getting updates by the end of March while Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion and Xperia acro S would follow in the subsequent weeks. We’re not sure if that isn’t too late and by that time Key Lime Pie might already be out leaving Sony users again with something that is one generation behind.
